Parade / Float Application
The Barrington 4th of July Parade steps off at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 4, 2013. This year’s theme is “America – Land of Hopes and Dreams” and will celebrate Barrington as a place where individuals and organizations have soared to great heights, lead the way in innovation and are helping others. It promises to be another grand celebration.
Once again, the staging area for the Parade is the Barrington High School (west) parking lot. The Parade starts at the High School and proceeds east on Main Street, ending at the Metra Train Station, north commuter lot, via Wool Street. All participants are asked to assemble at Barrington High School two hours prior to the start of the Parade, at 8:00 a.m.
To ensure the safety and well-being of all participants and spectators, the Parade Committee has developed a set of Parade Safety Policies. A copy of these policies is enclosed and should be reviewed prior to submission of the Parade registration form. Your submission of the Parade Registration Form indicates that all those associated with your parade entry have agreed to adhere to these Parade Safety Policies.
All entries (except collector vehicles) must be decorated in keeping with the Parade theme or in patriotic colors. Awards will be presented to the entries which best depict the Parade theme, portray patriotism, and personify Barrington’s hometown spirit. You can find the judging criteria here.
As a courtesy to other participants, entries with animals (horses, dogs, etc.) must provide for clean up after animals at the staging area and along the Parade route. Entries without a designated clean-up person will not be allowed to enter the line-up. A $50 fee will be refunded if clean up has been entirely completed.
To participate in the Parade, please complete the enclosed registration form and return it with the appropriate entry fee. Entry fees are used to offset the cost of the Parade. No entrants will be accepted after Friday, June 14, 2013. Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. No refunds of entry fees are granted after June 14 or due to inclement weather on the day of the Parade. The Parade committee reserves the right to approve all entries.
Confirmation of your participation and detailed instructions will be sent two weeks prior to the Parade to the address indicated on your registration form.
If you would like to provide additional service or financial support for the Parade, sponsorships are available.
We look forward to celebrating with you on the 4th!
**please note: PayPal payment of the registration fee will be available shortly!**
