Judging on Parade Day
Please display the alpha-ID on your Color Placard prominently for the judges to see.
• Judging and awards for entries in the 2012 Parade will consider floats, classic or antique vehicles, marching entertainment, and motorcycle- or equestrian-mounted units.
• At the beginning of the parade route, a distinguished panel of judges will evaluate each entry for creativity, theme, appearance, originality, patriotism and use of music.
• Honors will consist of a Grand Prize for the best overall entry of a patriotic nature, the Village President's Award for the entry that best depicts the parade theme, and the Spirit of Barrington Award for the entry that best personifies hometown dedication, ingenuity, originality and community pride.
• Awards will be announced at the conclusion of the event and will be distributed in the Brat Tent following the parade or delivered to recipients after the holiday weekend.
• Late entrants will not be eligible for judging.
Decor
All entries (with the exception of collector vehicles) must be decorated, either in keeping with the Parade theme or in patriotic colors.
• Awards will be presented to the entries which best depict the Parade theme, portray patriotism, and personify Barrington's spirit of hometown dedication, ingenuity, originality and community pride.
Parade Safety Policies
You MAY PASS OUT candy, water and other items of your choice along the parade route, however you MAY NOT THROW items into the crowd.
• Please distribute the Parade Safety Policies to all your group members.
• To ensure the safety and well being of all Parade participants and spectators, the Barrington Independence Day Parade Committee developed and adopted this set of Parade Safety Policies. Your submission of the Parade Registration Form indicates that you have reviewed and agree to adhere to these Parade Safety Policies. You agree to instruct your group of the parade Safety Policies.
• By participating in the Parade, each member of your group agrees to abide by the Parade Safety Policies.
• Failure to abide by the Parade Safety Policies may result in removal from the 2014 Parade and/or future Parades.
